Soldier Charged for Attempted Drug Running, Murder-for-Hire

By KGNS News

Three men arrested over the weekend in Laredo, in a DEA operation, made their initial court appearance Monday morning in federal court.

The men thought they were doing work for the Zeta drug cartel. One of the men, a lieutenant with the U.S. army, offered to provide the cartel with weapons, and even train their cartel members.

The 4 men were meeting with undercover DEA agents who they believed to be Zeta cartel members. During the arrest, an agent discharged his weapon, killing one of the suspects, Jerome Corley.

The other three men were arrested: Kevin Corley, a U.S. Army lieutenant and a veteran of the war in Afghanistan who provided undercover agents with army training manuals and ballistic vests allegedly stolen from the Colorado Fort Carson, Samuel Walker and Shavar Davis, both recruited by Kevin Corley to make up the team who planned to carry out a murder-for-hire for the Zetas.

Two other men were also arrested Monday in South Carolina. In the criminal complaint filed, it states the men were to purchase weapons for the undercover agents. They were also planning to smuggle grenades off of a military base, and sell those to agents as well.

The four men arrested in Laredo were planning to carry out a contract killing of a rival cartel member, dismember and carve a “Z” on the body, and then steal a load of cocaine. As payment for the killing the men were to receive $50,000 and more than 10 lbs. of cocaine.

The three men arrested in Laredo have a detention hearing scheduled for Thursday in federal court. The year-long investigation was conducted by the DEA, FBI, with assistance from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division.

This is semi-hypocritical, the us sends these same type of soldiers into Mex. to do exactly the same thing and it is OK, because that is what they are trained for.

Hey for all of you hating on the military keep in mind that Laredo doesn't even like its veterans now no one wants to hire the guys well what the hell are they supposed to do beg for money on a corner hell the Laredo PD wants a grant to hire veterans that is messed up because first they didnt want to hire them believe me i was there now all of the sudden they will hire them only if they get money from the government why didnt they hire them before instead of hiring their friends and family Im starting to think the zetas might an Equal Employment Opportunity standard to meet Give veterans a job and maybe this wont happen anymore instead of hating on them not hiring them and then when they go for something that makes money critize them.

If it wasn't because our military men and women and our veterans, you and that means YOU and your families will trembling with fear when a Chinese, Russian, German or Mexican Judiciales will be knocking at your door, most of the people prefer living the war from their sofas watching it for 10 minutes on CNN munching on food provided with food stamps. thanks to our military we live in peace except that we fight each other in our civilian battlefield.

No, I didn't get hired because your compadre was waiting for you to show up for the position!! Without having to take the test!!! I passed and impressed some SWAT members on my physical condition and stamina in the PT Test, but the investigator told me that since I had fired my weapon on duty more extensive background was needed jeopardizing my spot... Really? Never heard from them again. I joined the military out of duty and honor sacrificing a spot at Spartan School of Aeronautics, I joined so ya'll can enjoy criticizing people freely, so you and your kids don't have to be drafted into useless wars... YOU'RE WELCOMED ungrateful people. I bet you couldn't even sacrifice the spot on your couch!!! and this is NOT a college essay it's only a comment board so you don't have to be a knuckle head stick in the mud about grammar. Learn some respect instead!!!

It's interesting to see the differences in reporting. If one person kills another with a gun it's reported as a shooting. If law enforcement kills someone it's nicely put as discharging a weapon.

Big difference between being drafted and joining. I feel I owe to draftees not to "joiners". One chooses the other is compelled by law. Unless you were drafted stop crying Molly.
