New Fire Chief is Selected for the County

By KGNS News

Webb County Commissioners have selected Rick Rangel as the new Fire Chief for the County's Fire Department.
The announcement came this afternoon after months of searching.
Our Carolina Garcia has the story.
Webb County Commisioners have voted for the new Chief of the Webb County Fire Department.
They had a total of 4 applicants , three of them from Laredo, one of them from Arkansas.
Commissioners have chosen Rick Rangel who has over 30 years of experience to fill the position immediatedly. Webb County’s Public Information Officer, Larry Sanchez says, "Rick has extensive background in fire fighting. He has actually 30 years of experience in the fire fighting field and he used to work for the City of Laredo."
Chief Rangel had recently retired from the Laredo Fire Department on December of last year. He says now he is very happy to be part of the Webb County Fire Department.
Rangel said: “I retired with the rank of District Chief, and through my years I was in positions such as EMS District Chief; in charge of operations followed by assignments in fire suppression."
As new Fire Chief, Rangel says he has plenty of plans for the department. He said, "Well, my plans now are to continue to develop this department, hopefully to recruit and retain, provide more training to the fire fighters and establish more continuity, and provide the services that are needed out to the rural areas in the form of fire and EMS."
Carolina Garcia, Pro8News.
Chief Rangel also says he plans to build a very much needed fire station for the county.
