Police Hit Up Maquinitas Friday Night

By KGNS News

It's a new establishment in the north part of town.
Yet, Laredo Police were already raiding the business for alleged illegal business activity.
Around 12:30 a.m. search and arrest warrants were issued to three individuals at the Flamingo Amusement Center.
A total of 250 motherboards were seized, as well as over $26,000.
This happened after alleged illegal cash pay outs to customers there.
Francisca Rodriguez- Guajardo, 33, Tommy Williams, 57, and Elfego Ramos, 20, were all arrested on charges of gambling promotion, a class a misdemeanor and organized criminal activity, which is a state jail felony.
The maquinita industry kept police busy last night, after another raid this one on the west part of the city, The Pelican Amusement Center located in the 4100 block of San Dario.
That’s where according to police they raided the place confiscating 141 motherboards and over $11,000.
In this case Monica Galvan was taken into custody and booked at Webb County Jail also for gambling promotion.
Both raids that we just told you about police say were part of a multi-week investigation where plain clothed undercover officers were paid out in currency over $5 which is illegal.

These raids only occur to make it look like the PD does something about it. Either these owners didn't pay the price to PD or it's all a show. How come the friends of Chilo never get raided? BTW, Chilo needs to meet Jenny Craig. Too many tacos in the break room.

My question is why the IRS and State is not involved. This businesses don't pay any form of tax other than permit to the City/County. The pressure should be put on our leaders to wipe this kind of activity off the streets of Laredo. None of this 8liners are locally owned and are probably a cover for others.

Whoever thinks this is family entertainment is dazed and confused. All this establishments probably don't even have a business license. It's funny that when a raid is conducted, the only ones arrested are the employees while the owners are no where near this establishments. Bunch of CON ARTISTS

of our local leadership is on the take regarding the 8-liners. Remember our past Chief of Police? He was convicted in Federal court in regards to extortion and organized crime. However, not all Laredoans are corrupt. And, most Laredoans, including Webb Co. residents pay their taxes and comply with laws.

You would have to be a fool to give your money to these machines like that.@mari gtz, Vegas is a whole different thing. Their machines are regulated so to have certain ratios of winners and losers. These machines are rigged to only pay what they want them to pay and it isn't much. That's the difference. Remember the raid on the place that served rotten food? They couldn't even stand the rancid smell it was so bad and yet was just inspected by the health dept. days earlier.

Funny how alot of people are complaining over issues that keep alot of people entertained and put a little something back in our pockets, I too go and play and I won 1600.00 in a gambling room and was paid in cash I am happy to say. you all should be worried more on everyday issues like how to keep the drugs off the streets how to stop giving food stamps to those who are on drugs and selling them, those are some of the issues you all should be on top of not on the case that alot of our family and relatives enjoy doing. I too was a player and guess what I own one now so you cant say that we are all corrupt or belong to some cartel. Im just saying, its your money and do what you wanna do with it without any restrictions, I rather play than pay more taxes to support teen pregnancy, abortions, or food stamp fraud.......;
