Precinct One Candidates Debate Over Ineligibility

By KGNS News

Constable candidate Abraham Diaz has filed a motion with the 4th court of appeals to declare Rodolfo Rudy Rodriguez ineligible to run for the office of constable in precinct 1.
The motion was filed Tuesday.
Abraham Diaz claimed he has documents that prove Rodolfo Rodriguez is ineligible to run based on his residence.
But the current constable said he has lived in his precinct for several years now, and has the documents to support his defense.
Abraham Diaz/Candidate: "Since 1996 to the present he has been claiming homestead tax exemption at 406 La Herradura which is located off of Mines Road, which is clearly in precinct 4 and has done this under oath. Also at 1413 Juarez he has the following homestead exemptions: over 65 years of age, disable vet homestead under his father's name. This is the address he claims to reside. These are just some of the documents that we have provided."
Rodolfo "Rudy" Rodriguez\Constable: "This is something where they say that I don't live in this residence and I live in, that is very hard. How can they say that? How can they prove it? My driver's license is in my residence, 1314 Juarez, my voter registration is in 1314 Juarez, I pay bills, that is my primary residence."
The motion was filed early Tuesday and is currently in San Antonio, Texas waiting review.

Former "El Protector" cleared of wrongdoing Story Created: Aug 12, 2009 ( Story Updated: Aug 18, 2009 ) Officer Abraham Diaz, formerly known as “El Protector,” has now been cleared of any wrongdoing. The announcement came from Attorney George Altgelt who says he hopes this experience will teach an important lesson to the police department. Altgelt says accusations against Diaz were false from the beginning and police simply rushed to conclusions. He even says he hopes the police department will learn from the entire experience. “My name was tarnished and that’s one of the reasons why we got us as a family,” says Diaz. With his family at his side, Officer Abraham Diaz, formerly known as "El Protector", hopes to clear his name after a memo written back in February by Police Chief Carlos Maldonado. In it Maldonado explained Diaz had been suspended for ten days after being found incoherent behind the wheel of his vehicle, with his department issued weapon, portable radio, and h

MAKE UP YOUR MIND Where do you live, Constable Rudy Rodriguez-1314 Juarez in Pct. 1 or 406 La Herradura Court in Pct. 4? Integrity is at the heart of the race for Constable Pct.1. According to sworn testimony of Laredo Police Department Sgt. Jesus Montemayor (and a subsequent story in the July 28, 2007 issue of the Laredo Morning Times, several weapons and cocaine were found in the home Eloy Rodriguez shared with his brother Constable Rudy Rodriguez. A story in the August 4, 2007 issue of the Laredo Morning Times, revealed, “The FBI had video of (Eloy) Rodriguez snorting cocaine at his house, which he shares with his brother, Rudy Rodriguez, a Webb County constable.” It is great concern to know that a trained peace officer like Rudy Rodriguez was not aware of the crimes being committed under the roof of his own home. Of greater concern is to think he was aware of the use of cocaine in his home, but did nothing to stop it. It is likewise of great concern that under Constable

Sounds like a lot of typical Laredo people that don't know the law. Every year thousands and thousands of Laredoans file for homestead exemptions to get tax credit on their homes...why? Because they live in them...Rudy filed his homestead outside of precinct 1 for what he's running for...his dad filed as early as 2009 VA, homestead, and over 65 exemptions on guess what? They house Rudy claims he lives in precinct 1...I know of no other 55 year old that lives with his parents...ñietz
