"No, we were not informed about this case. As a matter or fact with you coming along now is how I find out about it."
She's talking about a puppy found on Gladiola street which appears weak, with a leash around her neck and an open wound to one of her legs. Her small home is found under a tree, with very little room for her to move. It was a situation brought to our attention by a viewer. The owner of the dog tells us a vehicle ran over her back in December but they say now they are taking very good care of Werita. She says though the puppy was not taken to the veterinarian, it has been receiving antibiotics and other medical treatment. City of Rio Bravo leaders say they are looking into the matter and will take further action in the case if necessary.
"Right now I am going to advise this to the Mayor. I know she does not like for any of our animals to live under this environment, and we will definitely take action into this notice."
The City of Rio Bravo is filing a report with the Sheriff's Department hoping "Werita" can get the proper treatment as soon as possible. These animals don't have to be forced to live in this kind of conditions."
