Ten killed in Nuevo Laredo gunfight

By KGNS News

At least ten people are dead after a massive gunfight in our Sister City.

According to reports on social networks like Twitter, the shooting started in downtown Nuevo Laredo shortly after noon today.

The first reports of blockades came from the Federal Highway Number Two to Colosio Boulevard.

The several instances of carjackings were reported in the hours and minutes later, particularly in the areas of Matamoros, Dr. Mier, and Alvaro-Obregon streets.

The consulate general in Nuevo Laredo issued a warning to U.S. citizens in the area regarding Thursday's outburst of violence.

In a message released on its website this afternoon, it warned Americans to avoid the downtown area of Nuevo Laredo as well as the Anahuac Highway, and around Reforma.

Several reports came in about narco blockades and carjackings in those areas.

There had also been reports of road spikes being deployed in areas near the fighting.

People were warned to stay away from the World Trade Bridge on the Mexican side and to take precautions in the area.
