Tonight was the highly anticipated Christmas performance of the year. A mix of well-disciplined students and professional dancers gave a spectacular performance that packed the house at the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts complex at LCC. "Compania de Ballet Laredos", under the direction of Becky Salinas Chapa, presented their annual version of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" ballet event. And through plies and pirouettes, and the battle of the hostile rat against the nutcracker, the ballet performance tells a universal story of the triumph of good over evil.
The dancers can tell you it took significant preparation. Alyssa Tijerina, "Clara" dancer, explains: "You should go backstage! It's just crazy out there. It's difficult, but it's beautiful, the dedication, the responsibility. But it's all worth it, we all love it. We do it for the love of ballet."
We want to send out our congratulations to all organizers and participants of the event on behalf of KGNS for the triumphant performance.
