Webb County Commissioners are already on the search for a new fire chief. This after the recent coordinator failed to meet state certifications, but this time around County Commissioners say they plan on going about the selection process different that before. Commissioners announced this week that they let Jerry Arizola go. After he was given a year to pass exams to meet requirements allowing him to maintain his position as fire chief for Webb County. However, after a recent attempt to pass the test Arizola was unsuccessful. Commissioner Jaime Canales says, this time applicants will have to meet stricter qualifications to be considered for the job. Meanwhile, commissioners have already selected an interim fire chief for Webb County, Jose Luis Flores. Canales says he has previous experience with the Laredo Fire Department, but most importantly he says Flores does have state certification.
