UISD School Supply Drive

By KGNS Intern

Most of the families who lost everything in the flood also need school supplies for their kids who will be back to school in a month.

United Independent School District will hold an emergency school supply drive. The drive will start Monday, July 19th until August 12th from Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. Until 6:00 p.m. in several locations.

You can drop off items at the administrative building at 201 Lindenwood Dr. and also at the SAC auditorium. More drop-off locations will be announced soon.

I think the parents should be required to do community service and be paid with vouchers that can only be used for school supplies. They can begin the community service a year in advance to give them time to accumulate vouchers for all of their children. There should be no freebies. We have enough freeloaders already that don't work full time or even part time for that matter. If they don't provide school supplies for their children, give them a fine and dock the money from any government assistance they get. This city has enabled enough leeches.

as much money as we pay in taxes, i high time that USID handle the school suppy deal. i am so tired of hearing about the kids that don't have, well they get ton in food stamps while we have to flip the bill for everything. why don't they trade the food stamps for school supplies for a change. just a bunch of people taking advantage of the middle class who has to flip the bill as always!!!!!!!!
