WBCA Air Show Pilot Shares His Story

The annual WBCA air show draws a large crowd of people young and old who are excited to see a variety of planes, but it's the pilots flying those planes whose stories don't get told.
"well I've been a pilot for almost as long as i can remember."
Joe Shetterly says as a child he remembers building model airplanes and knew he wanted to be a pilot.
"My grandfather flew a little bit and then my dad has made a career out of it. It wasn't something pushed on me but just became passionate about it."
While other teenagers were asking their parents to teach them how to drive, Shetterly says he had his sights set in the air.
"My dad actually taught me how to fly and i first flew an airplane by myself on my 16th birthday."
Shetterly didn't get his driver's license until he was 17, but that didn't bother him because he was able to spend his time in the sky practicing his tricks.
"Pilot Joe Shetterly hopes to inspire those that aspire to be a pilot one day themselves."
"It's not out of reach. people can learn to fly..they can own their own airplane."
And for all those little boys who dream of becoming a pilot, Shetterly is proof to keep your dreams alive.
"Kind of the typical little boy dream to go fly an airplane and I've been lucky enough to get to go do that."

HHHEELLLOOOOOOOO, Laredo always has ugly weather on the day of the air show!!! Why don't we have it in the summer? That's real bad planning on part of the WBCA.

Same ole stuff anyway, need to see some modern stuff like stealth bombers etc. just swirling smoke.
