People throughout Nuevo Laredo spent the afternoon waiting outside their cars and on the streets due to mass amounts of violence.
It's unknown if the gun battles were between cartels or with members of the military.
Some Nuevo Laredoans have grown accustomed to the violence but perhaps a glimpse of hope remains this coming December.
Traffic was brought to a halt, Saturday, when violence erupted.
Tensions were high when drivers felt the need to abandon their cars for their own safety.
Victor Pedraza says he was having a drink when he heard the shooting.
"The soldiers are always hustling and they blocked the roads they say they caught a boss thats why they blocked the streets."
"I have a tailor I drive to the u-s to drop off produce, i noticed the main exits were closed in Nuevo Laredo, but theres always a tremendous amount of insecurity."
Things have become dangerous Nuevo Laredoans travel across the border for a taste of normalcy.
"We want things to calm down for everything to return like before, the sun goes down and we close our selves in because its dangerous."
On December first President-elect Enrique Pena Nieto will take office some hope for change but others have little faith, things will change.
"The institutional revolutionary party returns so I don't think that things will change."
"I think everybody is waiting for a change, hopefully when the president takes control, god willing, he will give us more tranquility."
