Spain's Princess Cristina to move to US

By AFP

Spain's Princess Cristina will move to Washington with her family as her husband has accepted a position with Spanish telecoms group Telefonica in the US capital, the royal palace said Thursday.

Cristina, 43, is the youngest daughter and second of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia's three children.

A spokesman for the royal palace said it was unclear when the princess, her husband Inaki Urdangarin, the Duke of Palma de Majorca, and their four children would be moving, but Spanish news reports said it would be after the summer.

The couple met at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, where Urdangarin was competing in the Spanish handball team, and were married a year later.

They currently live in the northeastern Spanish city of Barcelona.
