Students of LISD have yet another reason to be happy the school year has begun. That's because all middle school students and freshmen will be receiving iPads and laptops. Over 3,000 iPads will be handed out to middle school students during school time, and about 2,000 laptops will be handed to freshmen who will be allowed to take them home. LISD Chief Technology Officer Mike Munoa explains how they hope their 1-to-1 initiative will impact students. "Ultimately, our goal is to improve student achievement, improve collaboration with the students and help students have a vehicle to interact with the teacher in a more digital format. Also, give them the tools that they need to be successful." Filters have been placed in all devices to keep students focused on school work. The devices will be handed out in the coming weeks.
