Pain at the pump: Gas prices keeping travelers home this Fourth of July

By Ray Gomez

Laredoans at the gas pump aren't the only ones suffering from sticker shock.
Drivers all across the nation are feeling the pinch and that's influencing their decision on whether they want to go out of town for this holiday weekend or stay in.
Tim and Ann, this Fourth of July will be a little different for those who usually go out of town to celebrate Independence Day.
Already triple has stated that many drivers are changing their purchasing habits when it comes to purchasing gas.
And for the first time ever, according to the Texas department of transportation, people are preferring to stay home.
We spoke to a family heading into Mexico this holiday weekend who told us they're not filling up here. Until they get across because they've heard gas is a bargain in Mexico.
“Yeah it's really expensive, it's been a while since I’ve been, my husband goes constantly we were determined whether the car was less gas or truck but we all don't fit in the car so we have to take the truck.”
According to triple-A gas prices will remain below the four-dollars margin throughout this holiday weekend...but that is yet to be seen.
