A 14-year-old boy is arrested after leading police on a chase early this afternoon.
Officers say they attempted to pull over a maroon mini-van for a traffic violation on the city's Southside.
The driver ... however sped off... leading police down Masterson road and to the riverbanks.
The 14-year-old driver from Laredo was taken into custody by the Laredo police department.
Four other people were detained by border patrol.
Officer Gilbert Benavides from the Laredo Police Department says,
“Apparently he was running because he was transporting illegal aliens. The driver was a 14 juvenile from here from Laredo.”
Police say one person managed to swim across the river and back to Mexico.
No one was injured in that pursuit.
