Voting machines absent on first day of early voting

By Ray Gomez

As many headed out to the polling stations this morning...many found themselves not being able to vote on Webb County's electronic machines...
State senate candidate Louis Bruni is taking a stand on what he believes could affect all political races....
Louis Bruni and his attorney Robert Bali have filed a petition to prevent the use of those.
“One day electronic voting might be good today is not.”

That's precisely the reason why many voters got a little surprise.
Polling stations in Webb County were ordered to not use electronic machines...

“These machines don't work, they're broken.”

Attorney Robert Balli...representing Texas senate candidate Louis Bruni says they believe this can hurt the outcome of any candidate...specially those that may be too close to call....
Similar to what happened in the sheriff's race.

“The discrepancies, irregularities surfaced then when it was my campaign in the runoff campaign.”

“All I can tell you is that democracy can be hacked into.”

Sheriff Rick Flores says as corny as it sounds the issue is the vulnerability of the machines...how they can be manipulated by people.

“I have trust in the voting machines I have trust in the paper ballots...”

“I'm concerned more about... the elections administrator and the people that work for him.”

In the petition filed by Bruni's attorney they say the system just can't be trusted.

These machines are faulty they don't have a paper trail, there’s no way they can audit them, there's way of easily manipulating system you can put votes in..............we don't believe that these machines will give accurate results.”
