City seeks deal with Lamar Bruni Vergara property owners

By Ray Gomez

City Council is expected to make a decision on what will happen to the Lamar Bruni Vergara home that was demolished a few months ago.
According to City Manager, Carlos Villarreal, the city wants to make a deal with the people responsible for demolishing it without permission.
Today is the deadline for a letter to be received by the city manager from the owners of the land.
The letter signifies an agreement between the city and the owners of the land where the house once stood tall.
The city manager says the two parties came to the agreement to build the house back, brick by brick.
The building represented to many generosity and dedication.
Its now a pile of rubble, guarded by a fence.
Preservationists are saying this is an act in which the owners of the property intentionally were trying to erase a piece of what Laredo represents.
The city manager says if he does not receive that letter today, council will go into executive session to decide what kind of penalties the landowners will face for demolishing that home.
