El Cenizo Parade Hits Big For Spectators

By Concetta Callahan

Laredoans had their turn and now the people of El Cenizo watched as their annual spring parade rolled down the main street of town.
As our Annette Garcia reports, residents of the community say they're grateful for the parade's organizers.
Lorenza Salinas, Resident of El Cenizo
“Si venemos aqui en el ultimo per es para que se entretengan los ninos y miren algo bonito que esta haciendo la communidad.”
Lorenza Salinas says she rushed outside at the last minute to give her kids a chance to see the beautiful things the community has put together for them.
A spring parade complete with over 50 entries.
“The grand parade had about 180 entries so that’s a great turnout for a small city.”
Law enforcement officers, county and city officials, and yes, even Celia Cruz..
They all showered spectators with beads and candy.
Students proudly showed their skills as part of the El Cenizo police department explorers.
Those who traveled from Laredo and took part in WBCA festivities are glad the celebrations continue.
Melissa Lozada, Border Patrol Explorers
“Its pretty big for me just being able to help out and see everyone here.”
Meanwhile, families like the Salinas are glad so many people are taking time to share the joy with the people of El Cenizo.
“Le damos credito .. es muy bonito en lo que estan haciendo por los ninos y un buein exemplo para todos que los juntemos.
She says we give them credit, it is a beautiful thing they're doing for the children, its a great example for all of us to take part in.
“We're all one community, so I appreciate everyone inviting us to be a part of it as well.”
