Zapata County Fair Queen and Court chosen

The field was narrowed from seven ladies to only 3 this weekend.
As the Zapata county fair queen and her court were chosen.
The tradition continued Sunday with seven of the brightest and most talented girls in Zapata competing in several events.
Including western wear, talent, an impromptu question, and eveningwear.
The winners say it was a long road to the competition.
"To compete in this pageant...it takes a lot of up and a lot of hard work."
"A lot of the contestants were my bf and we grew up together...it's good to see that all of us tried our best."
The girls will represent Zapata at upcoming fair events.
Melissa Martinez will serve as the 2009 Zapata County Fair Queen, Michelle Garcia & Alexis Garza will serve as her court.
