Crystal City Spinach Festival gets plug on "Today Show"

As you may already know spinach is considered a pretty big deal in Crystal City.
And while that’s no secret here in eight country, the rest of the U.S now knows.
The Nueces River with its crystal clear water is the source of the little town's name.
About sixty thousand people flock to Crystal City every fall for the annual Spinach Festival according to organizers.
Its been going on since 1936 and spinach canning is still part of the local economy.
On Wednesday, one man who calls this place home caught the attention of NBC's Al Roker on the Today Show in New York while out on the plaza.

"And did you know Crystal City, Texas is the Spinach Capitol of the World? That’s Right. Ahgagagaga. They only feed you spinach right? And incase you don't believe it he brought pictures! That’s what’s going on around the country. Here's what’s happening in your neighborhood!"
A new town celebrity thats whats goin' on in Crystal City.
With this happy camper *who for now* will go anonymous.
Basking in his *17 seconds of fame* on national television.
The Spinach Festival takes place every November in Crystal City.
That’s about ninety miles north of Laredo.
