Man charged in assault of CBP agent

A local man is being charged with assaulting a federal officer.
According to ICE agents, Jorge Lionel Torres was returning to Laredo from Mexico on bridge one with two passengers.
Customs and border protection agents noticed opened alcoholic containers inside Torres’ pickup truck and he was slurring his speech.
Agents then guided Torres to secondary inspection and while behind the wheel he nearly ran the agent over "grazing" his torso.
When agents arrested Torres, he threatened to have them "taken care of" by the Zetas.
