LISD hires new Superintendent

By Ray Gomez

The Laredo Independent School District has a new Superintendent.

In a unanimous vote LISD trustees narrowed the field of three semi-finalists to just one finalist hiring Dr. Marcus Nelson from San Antonio.

Nelson is the Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Judson ISD.

The terms of Dr. Nelson's contract are unclear.

The board now has 21 days to work out the specifics.

Nelson takes over the reigns from temporary Superintendent Ronald McLeod.

He's been in place since Dr. Veronica Guerra suddenly resigned at the end of March.

No word when Dr Nelson's first day would be on the job at the head of a district many believe is in trouble.
