Laredoans try to beat the heat

By Ray Gomez

Temperatures have been well above average lately leaving many people trying to find ways to deal with the extreme heat.
Just over the weekend, the highs were 106 and 107.
Temperatures like these are well above average for our usual summer time weather and this has families looking for ways to beat the heat.
Ana Cuevas - Brings kids to water park
"I just tell them get dressed. We're going to the water park and let's go."
Ana’s a mother of three boys who have too much energy but it's too hot for them to play outside so she brings them here.
Arturo Guerrero - Has fun in the water
"It's fun. Sometimes I come with my cousins and we come and play here."
"So they can cool off and get their energy out cause they've been at home and tired out."
Jose Cuevas - Says it's too hot
"Over there it's so hot and right here you can cool down."
Armando Navarro\brings family here
"esta muy bien que venga los ninos para frescarse porque la tempuratura estan muy altas y esta bien que esta parque aquatico esta abierto."
This father says it's a great place to bring the kids.
He's so glad this free park is open to escape the high temperatures.
Gracie Navarro - Enjoys cooling off here
"es una propsa muy padre porque hace mucha calor y mucha gente no tiene dinero para ir a los parques aquaticos."
She says this splash park is a great feature in their community because so many people can't afford to go out of town to a real water park to cool off and have fun.
This park is such a hit.
Parents want to see more around town.
"It's really hot.
Almost in the 105, 106. For them to cool down its a good place but we need to build more."
