The Border Sheriff's Prayer Posse is now in Laredo.

The group of people from across the country and of all religious backgrounds says their main goal is to protect the 26 counties on the US-Mexico border through prayer.

“We just had a burial day before yesterday of a local resident in a small community there and from what I understand we're going to have another one tomorrow.”

Violence continues to spill over into El Paso from Juarez, Mexico, an area being dubbed a war zone.

"We're at 1000 deaths in Juarez area since January to now, so we're goint to exceed last year's number."

All along the border, in the middle of it all, are people hoping to put a stop to the bloodshed.

“So if law enforcement along the border is here to protect us who’s here to protect them? That’s what many people are asking themselves and finding the answer through prayer.”

“We’ve tried everything up to this point. It's time to turn everything over to God.”

The Border Sheriffs Prayer Posse, a group uninterested in publicity, is meeting behind closed doors in Laredo this weekend. Made up of people from across the country, they gather to pray for law enforcement, who today share details on border issues.

“Tell them about some of the problems happening along the border, some of the problems with our own government that do no understand and act on what’s really happening.”

“Our safety is the main thing, our safety and the officers' safety that are in there day in and day out.”

In a battle, the hands of God can only win some say.

“This is a vital issue of our country if we're going to be successful in this mission in this endeavor in this nation we're going to have to put God in it.”

People involved in today's meeting say they don't want any publicity all. What they want are prayers for the illegal activity to be stopped.

They say it's not about politics; it's about fixing spiritual fences.
