By Ray Gomez

The Laredo police department is moving forward in the case of a missing girl.
Today they have been able to positively identify the man they are looking for in the case.
It’s been two days of not knowing were 12-year-old Karla Rivas might be.
The Laredo police department is following strong leads.
Today we know more about the identity of the man who is a person of interest in this investigation.
This is surveillance video of the man at a convenience store taken the day before Karla disappeared.
Yesterday police had a different name for this suspect...but we now have his real name.
29-year-old Herman Hernandez Canales is originally from Honduras.
According to police Canales was deported from the state of California back in 2004.
Right now they do not believe he has taken Karla to Mexico.
Alberto Escobedo, Laredo police department:
“We don't have anything confirming us that he crossed into Mexico. We believe highly that he is still here in Laredo." Officer Alberto Escobedo said.
We talked to Karla’s mother and she tells us that Canales has been renting a room at their home for two months.
Coming up on Pro 8 News at six, Karla’s mother goes in depth of who Herman Canales is and what he was doing living with them.
