Country Club Preps for Fundraising Gala

Preparations for an evening of food and music began early Saturday afternoon at the Laredo Country Club. Members of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation helped put the finishing touches on decorations for their annual Gala. This year's event featured food and music. The foundation raises money to help find a cure for diabetes. Organizers say community members as well as businesses have all contributed to the success of their efforts. Ramon Diez-Barroso, from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, said, "We see how people in Laredo come to these events and help us 5 years in a row. It's a big satisfaction." Greg Weeter, a representative from BVLGARI said, "the event is going to be wonderful. The important part is that we've raised money for charity." The foundation also had a number of other events and hopes to continue raising money to find a cure for diabetes.
