Crimestopper's tip leads officers to possible murder weapon

By Ray Gomez

Authorities have found a weapon that they believe could be linked to the city's latest murder not too far from where that shooting happened.
We’re told that authorities are comparing the weapon to the bullets found in the body of 18-year-old David Lee Mendez.
Webb County Sheriff's Crimestoppers acted on a tip about a weapon at a residence in south Laredo.
Our crews were at the scene when police investigators in conjunction with Crimestoppers retrieved a handgun from a home.
The residence is located at the corner of Canada and Pine near the location where the body of the 18 year old was found late last week.
It's not yet confirmed whether or not this weapon might be the one used in the murder.
But already police are sending off the gun for ballistics test and are comparing it to the gun shot wounds on the body.
Three men were also detained at the scene. No word on whether or not any charges have been filed against the three.
Meanwhile Crimestoppers wants to remind the public that they do take their tips seriously and all calls remain anonymous.
The investigation is ongoing.
