22 children adopted as part of National Adoption Month

By Ray Gomez

November marks National Adoption Month.

In honor of the occasion, several families gather in the 406th District Court to take their first official step forward in their new lives.

The Department of Family and Protective Services and Judge Oscar Hale held a ceremony to finalize the adoptions of 22 children from Webb County in to 13 homes.

It's all part of the "Why Not Me?" campaign, which aims to shine a spotlight on children waiting for permanent homes.

Currently, there are 334 children available for adoption in Webb County:

"Today we would like to focus on a positive note, stating that CPS also goes to the extra effort to find a family to adopt these kids and that's something the public should be made aware of."

Several mass adoptions will be help around the state leading up to Texas Adoption Day on November 21st.
