Zapata County deputy hospitalized after rollover

The vehicle the deputy was driving rolled over off Highway 83.

The deputy was reportedly in a high-speed chase with a suspect when his patrol unit was bumped from behind.

The impact to the bumper caused the deputy to lose control and the vehicle rolled over.

The accident happened about 40 miles from Laredo, near San Ygnacio.

The deputy was reportedly taken to Laredo Medical Center.

No word on his condition.

Initial reports from the scene say the suspect in the chase was eventually stopped near a ranch in Aguilares.
