Services held for Ray Gomez at Joe Jackson North

Some tough goodbyes tonight for someone who was considered a hero by many of us: visitation for Ray Gomez, our news director who passed away this week, was held Thursday night.

His untimely passing after a brief ailment has weighed hard on all of us here at the station.

Friends and family gathered at the chapel at Joe Jackson North.

People have come from all over the state, many from other parts of the country, to pay their respects to our leader, our friend, one of our family.

Ray, we'll miss you and think about you every time we have a tough news question to answer and especially when we're expecting to hear your laugh in the newsroom.
