Laredoans Pay it Forward

Volunteers at the Salvation Army Give Back

By Ray Gomez

There are some Laredoans who didn't sit down for a thanksgiving feast tonight, but they helped to put food on the table for others. Tonight we spent some time at the Salvation Army where strangers were welcomed with open arms and served with a full meal.
Many of these people believe they are down and out, but some of the volunteers serving these people know that feeling all too well.
Thanksgiving 2009... For many folks in South Texas its a time to revisit the little things in life that they are thankful for, but for some people it reminds them of a time when they needed help. The Salvation Army opens its doors each thanksgiving to give those who are struggling hope. Visitors from previous years have returned again, but this time they aren't the ones looking for help.
Of the people who came in for a meal Thursday night there may be a few who choose to pay it forward when thanksgiving rolls around again in 2010.
