Car crashes, drug use, and suicide: just some of the topics addressed in a production tonight outside the LEC.

City officials are hoping it will help change the lives of the cities youth.

Mayor Raul Salinas was on hand to cut the ribbon symbolizing the beginning of the 99 production in Laredo. Recently the Gateway City has felt a sense of urgency to offer help to its adolescents.

Poor decision-making combined with the use of drugs and alcohol causes on average 99 deaths a day in the United States, creating the inspiration for this live production.

Staff members for 99 say the vision of the three-week event is to inspire the audience to make the right choice:

"It has nothing to do with force it is all reality so I encourage anyone who has even thought about coming out to come out and see for yourself because you are not going to want to miss it."

None of the acts inside of the 99 experience are real, however they are shockingly similar to the real life scenarios that can be created, by decisions that may leave an individual or an entire family in peril.

Despite the graphic nature of some of the scenes, one local high school student says he thinks it is a good experience for teens in Laredo:

"I'm excited I hope many of my friends come and see this production and I'm going to be glad because it is a really, really nice thing to come here and help you out."

99 arrives in Laredo after a ten city tour performing for than 104 thousand people.

Executive directors expect nearly 20 thousand more people to experience the 99 vision before leaving Laredo.

Doors for the 99 production will be open from 7pm to 11pm the next three weekends. It all wraps up on December 13th, and if you mention you saw this story on 8 you will receive a $1 admission.
