A high speed chase in South Laredo ends in a seizure of over 200 pounds of Marijuana. It's our top story this afternoon. Officials with the Webb County Sheriff's Department say it all began as a traffic stop. They pulled over a grey Ford Windstar, but as they approached the driver of the vehicle, he decided to flee the scene instead. "The driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed where a pursuit ensued for several blocks. The driver then stopped and bailed near Lamar drive in South Laredo," said Sergeant Felipe Torres of the Webb County Sheriff's Department. The driver reportedly ran off on foot through some empty lots in the area. Officials inspected the vehicle and found 241 pounds of Marijuana inside of some satchels that officials say the suspect used to help cross the drugs though the Rio Grande. The suspect is still at large. Officials are currently working on several leads in that case.
