Suspect in child indecency case skips court

A man charged with child indecency skips court Monday morning.

Forty one year old Edgar Cerda is charged with one count of indecency with a child by contact, after an incident at a local days inn motel.

According to reports, Cerda allegedly fondled a child at the motel.

Cerda was scheduled to appear this morning in the 406th District Court for jury selection.

The court's absconder unit, along with the US Marshals, immediately began searching for the suspect.

His apartment was found vacated.

The public is asked to notify law enforcement immediately with any information as to Cerda's whereabouts.
