Huge cash and pot busts over the weekend

By KGNS News

C.B.P. officers seize over two tons of marijuana and cash over the weekend.

The largest of the seizures occurred at an inbound lane at the World Trade Bridge. There over 4,900 pounds of the drug were found hidden in a trailer hauling auto parts.

An X-Ray scan revealed the 140 bundles of pot within the parts.

The driver of the truck, a 41-year-old from Nuevo Laredo was taken into custody.

Two other seizures at the bridge yielded another 170 pounds of marijuana.

In a separate incident, almost $2000,000 in cash are seized, this time at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge.

The undeclared money was found in the gas tank of a Honda Accord heading into Mexico.

An imaging-system scan and canine assisted agents in finding the money.

A 29 year old from Houston driving the Honda was taken into custody.

All these cases were turned over to I.C.E. special agents for further investigation.
