It was the scandal that shook our city government and led to the arrest of Laredo's former Police Chief and two high ranking officers. The F.B.I.'s sweep of public corruption. And, almost three years later, one of the convicts is back in town and near his release. Eloy Rodriguez, the lieutenant arrested along with Sergeant Alfonso Santos and ex-Chief Agustine Dovalina is at a halfway house here in Laredo. That's according to his attorney Fausto Sosa. He's on probation working at a local oil rig. This after his release from the penitentiary in Kansas. This is Dovalina back in 2007 when he turned himself in. The trio was charged with conspiracy to bribe the 8-liner industry. Where is the ex-chief now? According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, he's at this correctional facility called El Reno, 30 miles out of Oklahoma. It's said to be a medium security prison. And it houses all male inmates. Dovalina is set to be released in November of this year. Santos is set to be released in September. He apparently is imprisoned near the Canadian border.
