A Former LPD Officer is Sentenced to 6 1/2 Years in Prison

A former Laredo police officer is sentenced to six and a half years in prison for his role in an illegal drug operation. Former LPD officer, Pedro Martinez III was sentenced today in federal court. He was charged with two other co-conspirators for distributing more than 10 pounds of cocaine, and also for accepting bribes to escort cocaine-loaded vehicles through Laredo while using police-issued radios to monitor traffic.
Two others involved were former LPD officer, Orlando Jesus Hale who has already been sentenced to more than 24 years in prison without parole, and Guillermo Villarreal.
Martinez will spend 78 months in federal prison, which will be followed by 5 years of supervised release.
