The bi-district round of the football playoffs is here and two Laredo teams will take the gridiron tomorrow night hoping to make the area round. Alexander will play in a nuetral site game, as they take on Donna High out of the Valley. The Bulldogs are fresh off their 35-23 victory over arch-rival United on Friday night. With that win Alexander is the #1 seed out of District 29-5A, but get the pleasure of taking on the Redskins, who went 9-1 this season. Against the Longhorns, Alexander unleashed a new formation, using star runningback Xavier Skaggs in the wildcat to a good amount of success.
The Longhorns will not have the pleasure of a nuetral site game, as they will head to the Valley to take on Sharyland. The Rattlers blazed through District 30-5A going a perfect 10-0 this season, while the Longhorns struggled with a 3-7 record. Four of those seven losses came to teams from San Antonio to begin the season, as a way to prepare United for this time of the year. Head coach David Sanchez says things haven't gone exactly to plan, but he likes his teams chances tomorrow.
"We're here with a chance to fulfill our goal and that was to go at least three rounds in the playoffs and hopefully knock that door down. So we have that ahead of us and we're excited. The kids have worked extremely hard in preparing for Sharyland."
This one is in Mission, TX tomorrow night with kickoff scheduled for 7:30. Alexander's game is also scheduled for 7:30 at Corpus Christi's Buccaneer Stadium. Be sure to tune in to KGNS sports at 10 for the latest in both these games.
