Aiming for Scholarships

By KGNS News

Plenty of shots fired at Laredo's Rifle and Pistol Club.
ICE agents, Border Patrol, DPS Troopers, and other federal and local agencies competing to see just who could win top cop.
Some good shots. And, some not so good shots.
“First and foremost to honor law enforcement agencies, and to show our appreciation, and make a little money to raise money for a good cause,” says Aaron Canales, President of Laredo Daybreak Rotary.
Canales says this is the fourth year they hold the competition to raise money for scholarships and communities in school.
This event, like each year he calls a success with people always willing to help Daybreak reach their target.
“When rotary club was looking for sponsors for the match, we were happy to help. We are a gun store, so that is what we do. We deal a lot with law enforcement, and this is our chance to give back to the community and host the match. And its a lot of fun,” says Mike Kirkpatrick of Kirkpatrick Guns and Ammo.
Canales says a years worth of bragging rights adds to the fun, which he hopes will encourage even more participation.
“I hope more people participate next year. I would like to see more agencies out here. It’s good fun and a friendly competition,” says Canales.
More participation aiming for scholarships.
