Alexander High School Sees Heightened Security
By KGNS News

United I.S.D. is responding to rumors and violence that has compromised school hours.
Many students agreed there has been a spike in violence this past week but at the same time many say it's been blown out of proportion.
Over the past several days social media sites have been full of coments about a gun on campus.
Alexander High School Student Amanda Gonzalez said,"yeah yesterday there were like five fights that happened and today we were on, not like lock down but they didn't let us move because of the gun threats that were happening."
All rumors, school officials say are perpetuating the situation causing panic in a lot of parents.
"there have been a lot of rumors flying around amongst the student body they're using facebook and texting to get these false messages out to the student body."
This students says everything has been blown out of proportion.
“no there all lies, for example I heard they brought a gun, there all lies!"
Three fights were confirmed on campus yesterday.
Officials say they are taking all precautionary measures using metal detectors and heightened police presents.
"We have to squash the situation providing extra security which makes everyone feel uncomfortable," said Cantu.
Student, Liza Castillo said,"although they did go overboard with what they did, I feel like they're punishing the whole student body instead of those responsible and it's not necessary to have so many police.
Now the schools hopes the weekend will help alleviate the situation.
"we will continue to be vigilant till this issue dies down at the campus,”and because of end of semester testing students are urged to be on time this coming Monday because they're considering locking down the campus for security measures.
