" Well I saw there was about 8 or 10 police cars and border patrol cars all with their lights flashing. i heard all the commotion and i got some dogs so they were barking." Crime scene tape on the floor and evidence of a shooting in an alley located on Lexington Ave and Cortez street is what was left of that commotion. According to border patrol the agent shot at a group of 12 undocumented immigrants, injuring two of them. All three including the agent were transported to the hospital the agent and one undocumented immigrant were released. One immigrant remains in critical condition.
This is the type of dangers and threats that border patrol agents go through it daily. This is the reason why we continuously train and to expect the unexpected."
And that is exactly what residents in the neighborhood say happens the unexpected. One resident says, “I see a lot of traffic of illegal immigrants this is the main avenue of the Americas i call it. This is Lexington avenue, they pass through here every night." There is evidence they use the path to meet their smugglers to continue their journey.
"It is known that illegal immigrants will use the train to travel up north and they will also use the railroad tracks as well. and this will be to be undetected from either law enforcement agencies and the border patrol. In the area there are a lot of empty buildings and abandoned places were they can use for hiding." In the meantime residents in this neighborhood will continue to protect themselves.
