U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agriculture specialists intercept a pest that had never been encountered in the U.S. It occurred at the import lot at the World Trade Bridge after CBP Agriculture specialists conducted an examination of a commercial shipment of celery and romaine lettuce. During the inspection, a specialist discovered a live insect identified as a Pronotacantha Armata that are plant-eating insects and pose a significant threat to American agriculture. The shipment was sent for fumigation by USDA.
