Ghost riding the whip or car surfing, it's a term used to describe an activity in which passengers of a moving vehicle perform various stunts. These stunts include hanging out of the car or surfing on the hood, truck, or roof of the vehicle while it’s in motion. Car surfing is a very dangerous activity and unfortunately for three Laredo teens they would find this out the hard way. According to police, seventeen-year-ld Martin Martinez was driving his car while two of his friends were alleged surfing on the car. Some how Martinez would press the breaks too hard causing one of the teens to fall off the side of the vehicle, while the other teen would be run over. The teens were allegedly riding on the hood, filming themselves. Frank Mata lives in the neighborhood where this all happened and describes the scene.

Car surfing has caused several people to be killed during these stunts. Even at speeds as slow as 5 mph, someone thrown from a moving vehicle can be seriously injured. Now we did get an update from Laredo P.D. on the two teens and they say both kids have been released from the hospital with minor injuries. For KGNS, I’m James Johnson.
