Citizen Complains About Bad Constable Service
A local woman says she's tired of the way one elected official does business. She says the office he runs isn't operating like it should and turned to KGNS news and our Annette Garcia to bring attention to the issue.
What Adriana Moreno paid for was a hearing to have a tenant evicted. When a judge ruled in her favor, she said she went straight to Constable Rick Rodriguez's office to have the eviction notice served. She arrived at 9:25 in the morning and says the constable's office was closed. Moreno waited a while and made a few phone calls but found no one.
We also went out to the office and found a locked door. Instead we found Constable Rick Rodriguez at his campaign headquarters down the road. He said he was aware of Moreno's case and that the eviction notice was served Wednesday evening. Rodriguez also says Moreno never had to visit the office in the first place.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez’s time as constable ends in November and says either way, his office is open 8 to 5, Monday through Friday and closed for lunch. He adds that he's not switching his focus yet; however, that's not what Moreno believes saying, “This is not political. Like I said, all I want is for somebody to be at the office and do their job.”
Moreno says tax payers should get better service and there should always be someone in the office. Meanwhile, Rodriguez says his officers are out working but that a captain is always in except during his breaks, and the other officers are either in court or serving other papers.
