The City of Laredo is looking to continue to spread the message of Laredo's safety. You might remember last year's billboard ads that promoted Laredo's safety throughout the city and nearby regions. That yearlong agreement the Convention and Visitors Bureau had with Lamar Outdoor company ended in July. However, now with the agreement over, the city hopes to move to phase two with a similar but slightly different message. "The new phase of it is we've started the discussion with Lamar to see if they're willing to go in and renew that project with us and for us, and have the exact same deal where we spend the money in designing and printing the vinyl, and they would allow us to have the same space they allowed us before for the other campaign, but this time using the message of the new ranking the 19th safest city in America and designing something around that." Laredo has been ranked the 19th safest city by the Business Insider. Those rankings were based on crime reports by the FBI.
