Construction Causing Traffic at TAMIU

By KGNS News

"It should have been done on the 15th of August. Nothing ever ends on time."
President of TAMIU, Dr. Ray Keck is talking about the construction project still being worked on at the main entrance of the campus. With bulldozers and orange cones visible, it doesn't appear the project is close to being completed.
"It's frustrating. It's disappointing. I'm sorry it didn't get done before the year began."
Construction was started in February with the intent to have it completed before the fall semester started. Since that didn't happen, now the 7,000 students and 1,000 faculty and staff that are there everyday are being affected.
"It does bother me because after class I just want to go home and I can't do that. I would like it to be fixed soon. So as soon as possible."
"Yes it does, but they're constructing new things so hopefully it will improve in the future."
"It's a little frustrating but everybody can wait. It just takes patience."
"Not necessarily the entrance, but it takes a good 30 minutes to get out of the campus."
"It's not 30 minutes. I have waited 12 minutes at the worst and I come and go a lot on the campus."
Dr. Keck says it will all be worth the wait when there is a new entrance and new turning lanes. And in the mean time...
"Have what I find very hard to encounter and that is patience."
