You've heard of a soda ban in new york...AND Now there's a new ban around the country that's causing controversy and it could hit close to home..
Our Lauren Kendrick joins us with more.
The popular snacks hot cheetos and takis are being taken off the shelves in some states.
Could that happen here in Laredo?
We spoke to people around the city to see what they think.
That's part of a video some kids made proclaiming their love of hot cheetos and taki's, but not everyone shares their enthusiasm.
"I got sick with takis so I don't eat them anymore."
Eighth grader Ricardo Rodriguez says he got a stomach virus after eating too many takis about a year ago.
"I like hot cheetos but I also think they're bad for you."
School districts in California and New Mexico are attempting to ban the popular chips flaming hot cheetos and takis. They say they are health hazards to students so we had to ask if people thought that would ever happen right here in the gateway city.
"Banned in Laredo, I don't know. Everybody loves them."
Each bag of flamin hot cheetos contains 26 grams of fat and a quarter of the amount of salt that's recommended for the entire day.
"We see kids, toddlers eating hot cheetos. The parents just give them whatever they want and I think they should be banned."
Ana Valdez is a nurse and says she sees the serious problems these snacks can cause problems.
"The get a lot of problems...a lot of problems with the stomach. They get bacteria."
But her husband doesn't share her feelings.
"Like anything else, everything in moderation would be fine."
Valdez says parents choose what they feed their kids and feels strongly a ban would never be passed here.
"We're on the border so there's no way it would get banned from Laredo."
The video made by kids rapping about the snacks shows kids can't get enough of the spicy treat, something Genovevo Tenorio sees all too often in his profession.
"I'm a teacher so I see it every single day at school every day in the morning and I tell them 'you guys are crazy' because I emphasize so much on working out and they're eating it at eight in the morning."
That music video on you tube has over three million views.
Another option we heard today instead of banning the snacks is to stop selling them in school vending machines.
