Daily Buzz: 5/23/13 Peanut Butter French Toast
La Posada's Chef Beto gives us a taste of the traditional French toast with a nutty twist. Here's the recipe:
Peanut Butter French Toast -TX toast bread slices -4 Eggs -1 cup of Milk -1 split Vanilla Bean -1 tsp. Vanilla Extract -Canola Oil, or Clarified Butter -Crunchy Peanut Butter -Flambé of your choice, like Orange Liqueur -Toppings of your choice
1. Create batter by mixing eggs, milk, vanilla bean, and vanilla extract. 2. Spread peanut butter over one slice of toast, and dip into batter letting it soak for about a minute. 3. Using a Teflon pan, drizzle canola oil, or clarified butter, before introducing slice of bread with peanut butter side face down. 4. Let it sear for about 45 seconds to a minute. Flip over, and repeat on other side. Drop in a splash of the liqueur, and let the alcohol burn off. 5. Take bread off of pan, and serve with fruit, granola, or other toppings. Dust off with a little powdered sugar, and enjoy!
