Days after the unexpected rain Laredo received early Friday morning, damage is still seen around the city. From piles of mud, debris, and even fences knocked down. This is the backyard of a north side home where the wall was knocked over due to the storm.
Now the homeowners, who wish to not be identified, fear more rain can cause what remains to further collapse.
"As it is, we're already missing a lot of our land. We are afraid that one of the other walls is pretty cracked and pretty unstable and we're afraid it might fall over."
She and her neighbors both have small children and are worried of the danger this wall can cause, but they're not sure how to who can help solve this serious problem.
But one of their main concerns is that no other fences fell.
"That's the first thing we did. We went ahead and we looked at the neighbors and we saw that none of the other walls came down. If you see outside all of the other walls are in tact."
These homeowners are left wondering why their fence was the only one knocked down in the entire neighborhood.
"We're being told that it might not have been built properly, but we didn't know."
She adds that the wall was there when they bought the house. If it wasn't built properly, she wants to know why the home passed inspection. They feel the water was not strong enough to knock it over because of the low water lines.
"We also noticed that the water build up in here wasn't as big as some of our neighbors."
The insurance company asked them to not touch anything until they can come and survey the damage. Now the family waits with no protection or fence blocking their home from the alley.
