First up tonight an anonymous tip to Laredo Police leads to the arrest and capture of five individuals selling drugs. These are the five people arrested. The caller chose to remain anonymous but we first told you about the bust yesterday as a warrant being served by multiple agencies in South Laredo.
The location where the alleged drug house was may have been at least one of the reasons neighbors finally called police.
Laredo police would set up surveillance in a South Laredo neighborhood and stop one house from peddling drugs. Laredo police would recieve an anonymous tip that a house on Napoleon St was selling drugs. The Laredo P.D. Narcotics division would set up a multi day surveillance operation and after watching the residence for several days felt there was enough evidence to move forward. At around 2pm in the afternoon Laredo Police would raid the home, which at some point the suspects would try and hide their narcotics by flushing them down the toilet. Police would find 2 pounds of marijuana, 3 grams of coke, and 2.1 grams of heroin. Located in a drug free zone, the house was across the street from Santo Nino Elementary School. One neighbor I talked to, who didn't want to come out on camera says, he wasn't surprised to hear that this happened. He's lived in the neighborhood for about 5 years and has seen the neighborhood change. Another neighbor I talked to says, the neighborhood isn't that bad. There are plenty of families that live in the area and says, for the most part the neighborhood is a nice area. A drug bust can happen anywhere. Five arrest were made regarding this case, a case where someone had enough. Now I tried to talk to neighbors about what was going on in their neighborhood but because of the topic and fear I wasn't able to get anyone to talk to me on camera. for KGNS, I’m James Johnson.
